8 ways to save even more money for a vacation

There are phrases like, ‘I have too many expenses’ and ‘I can’t afford to travel’ are repeated umpteen times and one of the reasons why people say it is because people spend thousand of dollars annually, on things that they don’t necessarily need. No matter what, travel requires some money. Here are some simple and creative ways to cut your expenses, save money and get on the road as soon as possible!

1. Cut The Coffee
Coffee is a daily expense that silently drains your bank account without you ever realizing it. That daily $5 coffee costs you $150 per month. At about $1800 a year, did you know that you can spend 2 months in Southeast Asia? You can switch from frappuccino to standard brew, drink more tea or even brew your own cup!

2. Learn To Cook
We all need to eat, but restaurants are getting pretty expensive these days. To keep your food bill low, cook more often. Learning to cook is a skill that will help you when you travel. There are several YouTube videos that will definitely teach you how to cook fast and healthy meals, perfect for people with very little free time.

3. Let Go Of Your Car
You should do that especially if you live in a city with public transportation. Public transportation is meant for you to get around without a car and for cheap too. Learn to love utilizing the bus and subway system, ride a bicycle or even walk.

4. Find a Roommate or Get Cheaper Rent
If you are living on your own, try to move into a new place with cheaper rent or get a roommate to live with you so that you can share the payment. If you can, just try to move back home with your parents. Rent is definitely a huge part of your expenses and to minimize your costs on that will SAVE YOUR ASS!

5. Get Rid Of Cable TV
In today’s age, we have free TV streaming and YouTube so why even bother to even watch TV? Just watch everything for free online, it saves you on your bills.

6. Skip The Movies
Movies are ridiculously expensive as it can cost up to $15 for a ticket, and that much again for the popcorn and soda. Cut out the movies or rent them online via Netflix for $7.99 per month or iTunes for $1.99 per month. Whatever you do, cutting out trips to the movies will save you a bundle.

7. Quit Smoking
Everyone knows that smoking kills, so if you smoke, why are you still doing it? Since a pack of cigarettes costs about $10, it amounts to $3650 a year. With that amount of money, you can spend about 1.5 months in Central America! Why not save that money and reward yourself with a good vacation to Cuba or Puerto Rico?

8. Stop Drinking (Alcohol)
Alcohol is expensive. Cutting down the amount you drink is going to have a big impact on your budget. While this might not apply to everyone, those of you who are carefree might go out with your friends on the weekend. Drink before you go out to the bar or don’t drink at all.
